Yeah, I heard about this ad. I'm not sure "banned" is the correct term. The studio withdrew the ad after September 11 because it so prominently featured the Twin Towers. Good ad though!
The fact that Sony have refused to ever acknowledge or discuss the trailer since it was pulled is very close to 'banned', though! (More details here).
Including this on the extras for the Spider-Man film would have really told quite an interesting story about how certain media were influenced in the immediate aftermath of Sept 11!
Well, it was banned in the same way that A Clockwork Orange was banned in the UK... Clockwork Orange was passed uncut by the BBFC when it was released but political pressures forced the distributor to withdraw it.
Funny thing is, on September 12 2001, this trailer would have been in appalling taste, in March 2006, doesn't really effect or shock that much, perhaps *those* clips have been featured on the news a little too much.
Another thing, the Twin Towers were *not* removed from a music video from that time, "New York" by Ryan Adams (no B) the first frame contained the WTC followed by a qucik fade to caption saying that the video had been made very shortly before the attacks (early September IIRC)

To put it simply, it's a little piece of history, a fragment from just before.....worth saving. somehow, i even feel nostalgiac....oh well.

I remember seeing this on tv and in the theaters prior to 9/11. I am not the type of person to get nostalgic but it is good to see this again.
