Watch the boring crowd, contestants standing up, Bob Barker as a young host, etc. This was from 9/4/1972.
The first episode of Psycho Bob, in which Bob goes out for a night on the town as only he can.
RossTanner was little creation I wrote for a Midway production. We had a "stolen" show them built off of a parody of Whose Line Is It Anyway? I grew up watching those Bob Ross shows and got the ironic humor then. I love the myths about him also with the sniper stories and other junk. The basic idea was to take Sharon Tanner, our principal, and her big personality and paste her in all of these show rip-offs. The portraitures crack also came from a conversation where we couldn't figure out what to call a portrait. Duh. We used a little lovely hyperbole with the broom and the final painting done by Jolee, the art teacher. The final print is actually pretty closer to Sharon's own personal taste though. No humor needed there. Th best part in my opinion is the b-roll footage of the hand close ups. I was in a last minute late night editing session the day before show time and felt that it needed a little more. I figured that it would be funny for the cut away to the hand be to a man hand. Indicative of super low production you see in cable access, which PBS was just a step above for the longest.
