San Jose, California (May 1, 2006) – A crowd estimated at 100,000 came out to the streets of San Jose to march for immigrants rights. Each of the two videos is between 10-20 seconds each.

Gran Paro Americano: Up Market St. to City Hall. Three-minute QT movie. 20MB.
Perhaps one of the most frightening things I've ever seen, the police storm the protestors again for the second time. Watch closely; you'll see one Hispanic male start to run, and then you'll see the LAPD pick one guy and begin to hail him with clubs and kicks. He falls to the ground, assumes the fetal position, and continues to get beat/kicked for another 10-15 seconds. Watch the LAPD and the sheriffs throw people out of the way who try to come to this guy's aid. He was bleeding quite a bit from his head, but I couldn't get close enough to film that. One of the sheriff's had a billy club pointed at me. The worst part of this video is when the group who are helping the wounded man out of the way. Watch closely and you can see an LAPD officer run in and hit an innocent good samaritan with his/her club. Disgusting.

NYC mayday 2006, march for migrant rights. With Star Spangled Banner in Spanish.
Richmond marchers fill the streets in San Francisco and Richmond!!!!
This march was so large it is hard to capture in video. But imagine over 4 miles of Wilshire Blvd packed with people shoulder to shoulder as far as the eye can see in both directions.

Andy Carvin's four-minute video of the May 1 immigrant rights protests that took place in Cambridge and Boston, Massachusetts. The video follows a group of 1,000 protesters from their rally at Harvard and along their four-mile march to Boston Common.
This is a short video clip created by Columbus Indymedia covering the rally by students and immigrants rights activists at the Ohio State university. There is footage of a couple of students arguing about the issues and a couple of speakers.
Not 60 seconds after I finished shooting the last video, the police ran towards all of us in the crowd. If you watch the first video ("Standoff Between Peaceful Protestors and LAPD"), you can see how close I was to both groups. Actually, I was right in between them. I started running when I saw the LAPD barge towards us with billy clubs in hand. One guy in a white shirt (Miguel, the guy in the end of the video) stood his ground with his hands in the air. He was beat on his legs, back, arms, and stomach 15-20 times. He did not fight back. His message at the end is pretty poignant.
LAPD announce that the gathering of people at 1st and Main is 'illegal.' This is a prelude to them clearing the street. They have 'less lethal' weapons, tear gas guns, etc.
