Year 57 in the NATO Big Brother house. Problems are proliferating and tensions are escalating. Will Missile Guy stay? YOU CHOOSE!
"..there's going to be a nuclear weapon used in the United States..it's a very real threat..". In order to strike more fear into the American people, last night on Hannity and Colmes, Cham Dallas, director for the Center for Mass Destruction Defense, was helping with this fear tactic by saying such things as "sometime in the future there is going to be a nuclear weapon used in the United States and certainly a radiological device used". He is also saying that there will be a nuclear attack by Muslim terrorists against Israel.
Ben (co-founder of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream) explains how 17 billion dollars of American's tax money could be spent on actually helping Americans, instead of being wasted. The United States has more than enough nuclear warheads to plunge the entire earth into nuclear winter more than 100 times over, do we really need this many? Ben thinks we should reduce our nuclear arsenal (while keeping some warheads to act as a deterent), and instead use the money we save to provide health care and better education for American kids.
Two thirds of all energy generated in the UK's nuclear, coal and gas fuelled power stations is lost as waste heat - that's enough heat to meet the whole of the UK's heating and hot water needs. Greenpeace has launched a new short film, "What are we waiting for?" Made by BAFTA award-winning Memory Box Films and narrated by Clive Anderson, the film answers the crucial energy question facing the UK: how can we combat climate change and ensure energy security without nuclear power.
This is a vid about sustainable energy, I always though that nuclear power was bad, this proves it!! Beer can save the planet?! Who would have thought.
The Tsar Bomb: explosive power of all the bombs launched during WWII... times ten. Ugh.
Within months of the terrorist attack of 9/11, StratCom began undergoing a drastic makeover at the hands of the Bush/Cheney Administration. From its previously ‘unthinkable’ mission of nuclear holocaust, StratCom was tasked with offensively waging the White House’s “War on Terror”. The command now fields eight missions—nuclear weapons; cyberwarfare; missile defense; global command and control; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance [ISR]; global strike; space; and combating weapons of mass destruction. StratCom’s fingerprints are everywhere nowadays… The threatened attack on Iran—that’s StratCom’s global strike... The proposed ‘Star Wars’ bases in Poland and the Czech Republic—that’s StratCom’s integrated missile defense… The NSA’s “warrantless wiretaps” on American citizens—that’s StratCom’s ISR mission… The current showdown with China over its space program—that’s StratCom’s space command… Developing new generations of nuclear weapons like the bunker buster ‘mini-nuke’ and Reliable Replacement Warhead—that’s StratCom’s strategic deterrence.
This week we devote the entire episode to Dr. Helen Caldicott, one of the founders of Physicians For Social Responsibility (PSR). In this piece, edited by PepperSpray's Patricia Boiko, Dr. Caldicott talks of the nuclear issues and the health of the earth from the perspective of a healer/physician. PepperSpray collective members kept her in the viewfinder during on-air radio interviews in Seattle and accompanied her to the Washington meeting of PSR where she was the keynote speaker. Physicians for Social Responsibility is an organization of 23,000 doctors committed to educating their colleagues and the public about the dangers of nuclear power, nuclear weapons and nuclear war. http://www.psr.orgAfter being instrumental in the formation of PSR in the US, Dr. Caldecott helped start similar medical organizations in many other countries. The international umbrella group (International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War) won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985. http://www.ippnw
